Fleming County Hospital Honors Amanda Blevins, RN with DAISY Award
April 23, 2024Flemingsburg, KY (April 18, 2024) – Fleming County Hospital today announced that Amanda Blevins, RN has been recognized with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's programs to recognize the super-human efforts nurses perform every day.
Amanda received outstanding comments on our patient satisfaction scores several times for her compassion and caring of our patients and making them feel safe. Amanda was recognized by the mother of a young child seen in the ER. The mother stated that Amanda came into the room and instantly calmed her child. She stated Amanda informed her of everything that was going to take place and helped made this the best ER visit by far. She went above and beyond by being an exceptional nurse, caregiver and someone the mother felt really cared for her child.
The not-for-profit DAISY Foundation is based in Glen Ellen, CA, and was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick died at the age of 33 in late 1999 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP), a little known but not uncommon auto-immune disease. The care Patrick and his family received from nurses while he was ill inspired this unique means of thanking nurses for making a profound difference in the lives of their patients and patient families.
“We are so proud to recognize Amanda for the compassionate care and clinical expertise that she provides every day,” said Mary Purdon, Senior Nursing Officer. “The nominations sent in for Amanda by our patients and their families speak to the skills, sensitivity, empathy and connection shown by her.”
